Lenovo Yoga 900s Review

Lenovo Yoga 900s Review

Recognizably Different from Competition
The Lenovo Yoga 900s is a super thin notebook convertible with strikingly slim edges as well as attention-grabbing design. It is not merely a beautiful ultrabook, but boasts of a crunchy 1080p touch display, comfy keyboard and adequate battery life. There might be other ultrabooks with better performance, but the Yoga 900s' blend of form and function isn't easy to match.
Pros

• Dazzling lightweight design
• Excellent battery life
• Crisp and bright display
• Cozy keyboard
Cons
• Lags behind the competition in performance
• Lacking in pen
• Click button stiff
Lenovo Yoga 900s Design and Features
The Lenovo Yoga 900s looks more like something out of a premium jeweler's creation than a laptop. Its black-and-gold designer good looks is totally arresting, mostly due to the impressive hinge, allowing the ultrabook to be folded and flipped into a series of handy modes. The same elegant look is reflected on the keyboard deck, as 900s's awesome gold keys remain bordered by a unique coating of soft-touch, textured material that is both elegant and comfortable. The carbon fiber external chassis is colored in gold along with a bit of silver.
Lenovo claims that the Yoga 900s is thinnest convertible laptop in the world, and it sure looks the part. It is a delicate 0.5" thin and weighs a feathery 2.2 lbs, and so a breeze to take around. However what makes the Yoga 900s stand out from the competition is its amazing flexibility as it sports a 360-degree hinge which lets the notebook be used as a propped-up display or tablet. You can use it as a conventional laptop, as also turn it into a tablet by bending the display; while doing so the keys at the back get disabled automatically to prevent possible accidental strokes. Besides, the 900s can be changed into the Stand mode for presentation, or even Tent mode to watch a movie.
The Display
Whether you use the Yoga 900s in the laptop more or tablet mode, its 12", 1080p display remains extremely crisp. As to the sound, the Yoga 900s's stereo speakers remain very crisp, although they aren't nearly loud enough to listen to your favorite songs. The Dolby Audio app that comes bundled with Yoga have several presets for music, movies, voice as well as games. It also comes with a dynamic setting which adjusts automatically to whatever kind of audio you happen to be playing, and an equalizer, to fine tune the sounds.
The 900s can also be used for seamless note taking, duly supported by digitizer pens with no less than 2,048 levels of fine pressure sensitivity, making penning out notes, and doing a bit of doodling seem quite natural and responsive.
Verdict
The Yoga 900s is a fine combination of substance and style, and comes with a crisp display of 1080p, comfortable keyboard, more than eight hours of battery life into a luxurious plan and something to dream about, if you find it affordable.
